Art TREATS

Program Founded in 2010 by Art Access/VSA Utah

Art TREATS (Targeted Rural Education in the Arts Through Sustainability) is an innovative program designed to further expand our services to individuals with and without disabilities who live in rural communities that have little or no access to the arts and arts education. Art TREATS provides arts education sustainability within Utah's rural communities based on structured, in-depth partnerships with organizations, businesses, teachers, artists and students. Through implementation of Art TREATS, Art Access/VSA Utah hopes to leave these small communities with a sustained enthusiasm for engaging in arts as well as the necessary resources and hands-on art-making knowledge.

A three-day visit, each Art TREATS program will open with an evening reception and networking activity where the community can to meet the Art Access/VSA Utah representatives and get to know about the organization's programs and service offerings. The second day will feature an all-day, all-inclusive community arts festival featuring three Art Access/VSA Utah artists, each focusing on a specific age group (one for ages 12 and under, one for ages 13 - 19, and one for adults). And, the final day will focus on in-service trainings for the community's teachers, artists, and disability service providers, facilitated by our three artists. This will also include one-on-one consultation/tutorials with our Programs Director on accessing Art Access/VSA Utah programs.
