Beginner Puppet Construction and Manipulation with The Browns

Come build puppets with master puppeteers Linda and Glenn Brown! On May 4th you'll learn how to make and manipulate Rod Puppets that are similar in size and use to Indonesian Wayang Golek puppets. On May 11th, you'll learn to build and manipulate a marionette-like bird puppet. Pick one Saturday, or come to both, but don't miss out on this opportunity to learn new skills in puppet building and manipulation from the Browns. You must register to attend this class.  

Linda and Glenn are BTS Arts Integration Coaches for classroom teachers in the Granite School District. They have been teaching English and Theatre to students of all ages all over the world. They have taught in South Korea, The Navajo Nation, and were also in the Peace Corps as University Professors in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia.  Previously they worked at the University of Utah’s Department of Theatre and continue to work with the Youth Theatre Program. Glenn wears many hats; he has a BA in Art from Westminster College, and an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Utah.  His other talents include, mask work, puppetry, playwriting, animation, drawing, painting, set design, and Asian theatre.  Additionally, Glenn is a Bunraku puppeteer, having trained and taught in Japan with the Tonda Bunraku Troupe, of which he is still a member. Linda holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Utah.  She has worked as a director, animator, performer, mask work, puppeteer, and designer.  Linda has worked with classical, and contemporary works, as well as new play development for kids.

 

Pay registration fee at Art Access with cash or card.  

$10 for indivudal classes 

$15 for both (must pay by cash or check for $15 deal)
