Join Matteo for an amazing opportunity to carve stone on a small scale that anyone can enjoy. This class is a two-day experience. Using a carving kit specially designed by Mateo, you will learn to clamp a pre-cut piece of Utah Alabaster and carve it into your desired shape using Italian steel Files and Rasps.  Once carved into the desired shape, you move to polishing your one of a kind keepsake into a beautiful glass like finish.

With the right tools, education and a little imagination anything is possible!

Cost for both classes is:  $15.00

Class: Two days: June 14 & 15 12 pm - 2 pm

Italian Beginnings

It was the summer of 2001, my family had just moved from Maine to Italy, and I was half way through The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone when my father asked if I would be interested in stone sculpture lessons. I leaped at the opportunity.

I found a teacher in a countryside villa nearby and I started my apprenticeship with 3-4 hour carving lessons 2-3 times a week.  In a beautiful, coimage.pngurtyard garden in central Italy I chiseled out my first two marble statues under the guidance of my teacher Glen Ball in a few, short months. I brought my passion for carving stone back with me to Park City, Utah where I have lived for 14 years.
