Shibori Resist Silk Dyeing with Sarinda Jones (for ages 11-16)

 

Discover the Japanese art of shibori, and expand your creative horizons! Shibori is a centuries old hand-dyeing technique that anyone can Eva scarf colldo with a little guidance, and each design is a little different and unique. We will provide the silk material, and you will make it uniquely yours using a variety of shibori dyeing techniques, including folding, crumpling, stitching, plaiting, or plucking and twisting. Get ready to have fun and walk away with a work of art you can wear!

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:

Sarinda Jones is a multi media artist with a background in fine art and art history. She studied at the internationally renowned Pilchuck Glass School, as well as North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland. An award-winning artist, Sarinda shows her work internationally and has been commissioned to create a variety of glass sculpture pieces for private and commercial patrons. She currently sits as a board member of the Salt Lake Arts Council for Public Art, since 2009. Sarinda was recently a teachers assistant to Steve Klein at Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY in Feb. 2014.
