Veterans Glass Fusing Fundamentals with Sarinda Jones

slmag homestead sarindajones lowresproofs austen diamond photography 5 1This workshop will introduces many fundamental concepts related to creating glass objects in the kiln. After a brief overview, you'll work with a wide range of glasses to make a fused and slumped art work. The artwork will be fired after the workshop and available for pick-up later or at the next workshop date. After completing this class, you will be able to cut glass, understand the heating and melting methods for kiln formed glass, including many advance glass techniques. No experience with glass is required for this course—recommended for beginners.

Sarinda Jones, a kiln-formed glass artist, with a background in fine art and art history. She studied at the internationally renowned Pilchuck Glass School, as well as North Lands Creative Glass in Scotland. An award-winning artist, she was a Niche Finalist in 2010. Sarinda shows her work internationally and has been commissioned to create a variety of glass sculpture pieces for private and commercial patrons. She had been a board member of the Salt Lake Arts Council for Public Art from 2009-2016.  Sarinda taught at Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY in Feb. 2014, June 2017 and will return to Corning Museum of Class to teach in June 2018.
