Art Access has teamed up with Art Access is teaming up with Jill Johnson, a MAAT certified art therapist, to offer survivors of sexual assault a safe and creative forum to express their experiences, emotions and trauma. This 5-week art therapy workshop is specifically for survivors of sexual abuse and assault. This program provides adult participants with an opportunity to express themselves and heal through art. Led by a certified art therapist each this workshop series offers survivors of sexual abuse a safe and creative forum to express their experiences, emotions, and trauma. This program culminates in a 3-day retreat for all workshop participants. Please know that survivors of any type of sexual abuse, trauma, assault, incest, rape, etc. are welcome in this program.

Based on the Open Studio Project, founded in Chicago, participants will explore various art mediums individually and through a collective group experience. Participants will learn about intention, art-making and witness writing. This is an opportunity for previous participants to continue their self-exploration or for new participants to try out this unique form of therapy.

WORKSHOP DATES: MARCH 6, 13, 20, 27 & APRIL 3, 2018

Also, please mark your calendars for an upcoming gallery exhibit highlighting art by primary and secondary survivors of sexual assault and abuse. In June 2018 Art Access will be holding a currated gallery exhibit filled exclusively with art created by first or secondary survivors of sexual assault and abuse. This show will debut on June 15, 2018, and run until July 13, 2018. Gallery Stroll & Artist Reception is set for Friday, June 15, 2018, from 6-9 pm.
